I didn't plan on naming this new blog "The Music Inside". In fact, I didn't plan on starting a new blog! It's almost 2:00 in the morning, and if I possessed even an iota of good sense, I wouldn't be undertaking such a project; I'd be asleep like all the "normal" people in the world!
But this is me, and I've known myself for way too long to expect anything other than this eccentric behavior!
Of course, tomorrow morning I'll regret this. I always do. You know how it goes. Unsympathetic to my situation, that evil alarm clock will order me to get up before the sun does. Feeling really, well...bad, I'll drop my body off the side of the bed groaning something along the lines of "I'll never, ever stay up that late again!" (I think I recall saying that once or twice in the past. Twenty-five, maybe. Perhaps fifty. I haven't really been counting.)
The suffering that I endure at daybreak isn't the worst part, though. That's just a flavor of what's ahead for me.
Looking as if I've been out drinking all night isn't an issue at all. That's a simple cosmetic problem that a tad bit of makeup could fix up in a jiff!
No, for me the worst part is shuffling around all day in that zombie-like state; unable to think, and not even wanting to; being unmotivated to do anything, and not having the physical energy to pour myself a bowl of Cheerios.
And you know what I've discovered? We've been lied to for the past 100 years or so. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that a cup of coffee is not that magic cure that brings a person to a state of being instantly awake! Not even a Starbucks triple espresso's gonna do it for me tomorrow. (It'll taste damn good, though!)
Hey, guess what. I didn't come here to say any of this! Nothing I've written is why I'm here! I'd promise to write that tomorrow, but, well, you know me. And if you don't, then let me share this tidbit: I'm a procrastinator. As sure as I'll wake up feeling like shit tomorrow, I also will not ever return to this page with the very message I arrived here tonight to deliver.
So much for that New Year's Resolution. Well, I've accomplished one thing. I already have next year's New Year's resolutions listed!
#1: Go to bed at normal hours
#2: Stop procrastinating
#3: Keep your promises to post messages to your blogs
Happy 2007 Everybody!
